MILAN: Protect our state

Imagine you go to your favorite family campsite somewhere along the Coeur d’Alene River and find the road blocked and “Private property No Trespassing” signs posted everywhere. Or think about packing into that old hunting camp but the trails are blocked by some multi-millionaire who just bought the only access.

I know some might think it can’t happen here, but you don’t have to look hard to find examples of exactly these scenarios. Idaho has sold more than 40 percent of the land granted at Statehood. They just recently sold some of the finest lakefront property in the state, forever barring you from enjoying it.

Don’t turn your ownership in public lands over to politicians who will put your land on the auction block.
