Ilene Anne Luebke Maher, 82
Ilene was born on July 19, 1934, in Glasgow, Mont., to Ben and Ethel Luebke and raised in Hamilton, Mont., and Tacoma, Wash.
Ilene was preceded in death by her mother, father and two sisters, Bobbie Demmer and Alma May Kelley. She is survived by her husband, Rich; and several nieces and cousins.
She graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in science becoming a lab tech and O’Conner’s Hospital in San Jose, Calif. She worked at Santa Cruz Hospital, USC Medical Center, UCLA, Santa Clara County Hospital and the Red Cross.
In 1967, she married Rich Maher — a teacher, counselor and administrator for the LA Unified School District, settling in Malibu, Calif. Both Rich and Ilene retired in 1988 moving to the Lake Tahoe area, but after 12 wonderful years, the deep snows took their toll and they moved to Sparks, Nev. Ilene, however, missed the timber laden mountains and the rivers, creeks and lakes. So, they were off to Coeur d’Alene and Hayden Lake, Idaho, and it was here where Ilene lived happily and passed peacefully.
She requested no services. However, suffice it to say that anyone who met her will remember this sweet, loving, hardworking soul.
She will be laid to rest at St. Pius X Columbarium in Coeur d’Alene at a later date.
Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements. Please visit Ilene’s memorial and sign her online guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
