RATHDRUM — Mattisyn Cope had 15 kills, eight blocks and 18 digs for the Lakeland Hawks in a 25-16, 25-20, 18-25, 23-25, 15-13 win over the Moscow Bears in a 4A Inland Empire League match, the program’s first league win since 2011.

“It was in their minds and it was just a matter of trust and honestly knowing that we could do it,” first-year Lakeland coach Adriano de Souza said. “And they did it. It was pretty impressive actually. It was a mental thing, and after winning the first two sets, they knew they could do it. In the fifth set, they just pulled it out.”
