PASCO, Wash. — Alec Maldonado scored on an assist from Kobe Murphree in the 14th minute for the Cardinals, but a goal four minutes later helped the Hawks fight back for a Northwest Athletic Conference draw.
“We were able to play the ball forward to Kobe and he dropped it behind the center back and was able to win the possession,” NIC men’s soccer coach Ken Thompson said. “Alec got a 1v1 with the keeper and it was a very composed, calm goal. It was a very even match. We created a lot more opportunities and had two really good chances at the end of the game. We were creating more opportunities and played more of a 4-4-2 today and it really helped control things at the center of the field.”
Garrett Boyce had five saves for NIC (3-5-3, 3-3-1 NWAC), which plays at Wenatchee Valley on Wednesday.
