TRUMP: Other priorities

We all want government to change and here are some ideas for President-elect Trump from my forgotten corner of the country. Change the focus and direction of the Hanford Nuclear Reservation cleanup in Washington state to one of action and accomplishment. It is behind schedule and a huge financial drain. Use the skating ring in New York as a model.

Reopen and complete the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste depository. Sen. Harry Reid from Nevada blocked this project. Now that Harry Reid is retired, it is time to salvage the billions of dollars of studies and construction costs to provide safe storage for nuclear wastes which are now spread around our country in less secure facilities.

Revise and update laws and regulations to pro-actively manage our national forests. Management will ultimately reduce the intensity of wildfires as well as the huge cost to fight them. Just as important, management will provide an economic jolt to our rural communities which surround these unmanaged but productive forests. This is exactly what Trump wants: create jobs and prosperity.

Taxes, immigration and trade deals are important but so are these less notorious failings of government.
