Two Boise State football

players expelled, one

suspended over alleged

sexual assault

BOISE — Two Boise State football players have been expelled from the university, and a third has been suspended from the school for a year after a sexual assault investigation, according to the players’ families and BSU documents obtained by the Idaho Statesman.

Redshirt freshman linebacker Marquis Hendrix, of Ocala, Fla., and redshirt freshman cornerback Donzale Roddie, of Compton, Calif., have been expelled, their parents confirmed to the Statesman on Wednesday night. Redshirt freshman safety Darreon Jackson, of Derby, Kansas, has been placed on a one-year suspension, according to his father.

All three have been the focus of a Title IX sexual misconduct investigation launched by Boise State last fall, after a female student told Title IX Director of Compliance Annie Kerrick she was sexually assaulted by Boise State players.

All three players were notified of an investigation in January and February, and all three signed no-contact orders in February, according to the documents.

Spokane travels to Colorado for second meeting vs. Crush

The Spokane Empire hit the road tonight to take on the Colorado Crush, with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m. (ESPN 700) at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland.

The Empire (9-2) completed a four-game season sweep of Tri-Cities last Friday, giving Spokane a three-game lead in the Intense Conference. Billings (6-6) and Nebraska (5-7) each have four games remaining in the regular season.

Colorado enters the game 2-10, losing its first eight games of the season before winning two straight. The Crush have lost their last two games by a total of 14 points.

Spokane beat Colorado 97-72 on April 9 at the Spokane Arena.

Colorado can still clinch a spot in the playoffs if its win out, and both Tri-Cities and Nebraska fail to reach six wins.

Earlier on Thursday, Spokane activated kicker Pat Clarke from the injured reserved list.

Clarke (6-foot-3, 210 pounds), played collegiately at Buffalo and played one game with the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League, converting 7-of-10 extra point attempts.

He was originally signed before the start of the season, but suffered an injury that required the Empire to move him to their injured reserve list. Due to rules changes, Spokane was unable to bring him back to the roster in Week 15.

Cougars announce 2016-17

nonconference hoops slate

PULLMAN — Washington State men’s basketball will host seven nonconference games at Pullman, along with one at the Toyota Center at Kennewick, Wash., as the Cougars’ 2016-17 men’s basketball nonconference schedule was announced.

The Cougars will have just one repeat opponent from last season’s nonconference schedule, Idaho, as the two will meet for the 111th consecutive season, the longest continuous rivalry west of the Mississippi River. WSU will also return to the Toyota Center at Kennewick, Wash., to host Central Washington. The Cougars last played at the Tri-Cities, Dec. 18, 2013.

The Cougars open up the season hosting Montana State, Friday, Nov. 11, the night before Cougar football hosts California at Martin Stadium. Following that game, WSU will be away from Pullman for four games as it hosts Central Washington at Kennewick, Wash. (Tuesday, Nov. 15), followed by three games at the Paradise Jam at St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Nov. 18-21. The Cougars open the tournament with Creighton, Friday, Nov. 18.

Washington State returns home Thanksgiving/Apple Cup weekend as it hosts San Jose State, Sunday, Nov. 27. That’s the first of four straight home games as the Cougars host Utah Valley (Wednesday, Nov. 30), New Orleans (Saturday, Dec. 3) and Idaho (Wednesday, Dec. 7).

Washington State hits the road to take on Kansas State in the first of a two-game, two-year series, Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Sprint Center at Kansas City, Mo. The Cougars then return home for their final two nonconference games hosting Santa Clara (Saturday, Dec. 17) and Sacramento State (Wednesday, Dec. 21).

The Pac-12 schedule will be announced later this summer, as will the exhibition game.
