Mary Jo Evetts, 91
Mary Jo Evetts (Jody) passed away peacefully on May 15, 2016, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She was 91 1/2 years young!
Jody grew up in Southern California and was born dancing and performing. In her youth, she performed in a cowboy band with her brother, Art Black, and later she started her own dance studio where she taught many youngsters the kick ball change and other tap dance steps. Jody never walked, she bounced. She was full of energy and giggles all her life.
Later, she began working at NBC studios in Burbank and was a part of such memorable shows as “The Andy Williams Show,” “The Osmond’s,” and the well-known daytime soap, “Days of Our Lives.” When she retired, Jody along with her husband, Sam, mother Marie and Aunt Jimmie, all moved to Coeur d’Alene and settled into the community and became active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jody studied genealogy, taught dancing and was very involved in the Mormon community. After losing her beloved mother and husband, she moved to the Beehive (now Pacifica Sherman) where she continued to endear herself with her infectious laugh and vivacious personality.
She is survived by four nieces and two nephews. A special thanks to the wonderful staff at Pacifica Sherman, to Chris and Paula Meyling, Hospice Care of North Idaho and especially to Linda Meyer who took loving care of Jody as if she were her own mother.
There will be a graveside service at 3 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2016, at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens, 7315 North Government Way, with Yates Funeral Home in care of the arrangements. Please visit Jody’s memorial and sign her online guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
