CHEATHAM: Brings insight

| May 13, 2016 9:00 PM

My comments refer to the comments by Mike Reno of Post Falls re: May 17: No to Cheatham…as follows:

To associate Mr. Don Cheatham with the ridiculous diatribe of Donald Trump and the liberal politicians he donated to in Wednesday’s column, was a personal attack on someone whom I have known, and have had the pleasure of interacting with him and his wife on several occasions since he has arrived in North Idaho. I have, as many other folks that know him, found him to be a very honest and conscientious person when it comes to having conservative views on many different subjects.

Yes, he is from the state we all want to get away from if you have lived and worked there for any length of time as I have along with quite a few other folks who have moved here. But to call him a “Carpet Bagger” please. Living there gives you an insight on the problems we don’t want i.e. high taxes, gangs, drugs, untethered immigration and most of all government regulations that strangle the living you know what out of businesses.

Mr. Cheatham has seen what liberalism can do to a state and its people and has and will fight against legislation that continually erodes our North Idaho lifestyle. As a past law enforcement officer, he has seen the underbelly of life that is often shielded from the public on a daily basis and working in “Homeland Security,” he knows only too well what the dangers are when it comes to trying to protect the public.

He brings an insight into public life I doubt his challenger would ever get, so for me I want someone who knows how to protect me. Just because he gets a “public pension” shouldn’t discount him as a valid candidate. He has the backing of all the people he works with in Coeur d’Alene and Boise, and will continue that tenor. To his detractors as this Mr. Reno is, get to know someone before you publicly slander them with empty insults, lest you become what you accuse them of.
