RIGHTS: Zone change errors

Another case of money talks and the will of the people walks. Judge Rich Christensen miraculously just found an outdated county zone change ordinance which permits a rich developer and the Silver Hill Land and Cattle Co. and Mort Construction to overturn a county board decision which denied a zone change. Refer to CDA Press, Friday, 3/25/16 issue.

We the people met with the Board of Commissioners several times requesting they deny the zone change. During these meetings many pros and cons were presented by both sides. Two of our three Commissioners voted against the zone change.

I question how, after eight months, suddenly a judge finds an outdated state code and the lawyers for the developers did not previously discover this fact. The lawyers were very prepared to fight for the developers at both meetings. Once again “we the people” lose a decision that had been granted to us. More and more it feels like “gratuities” may be involved in political decisions? Our poor country!
