PREP TRACK AND FIELD: Viking girls win at Lewiston invite

LEWISTON — Coeur d’Alene won the girls team championship while the boys finished second in the Lewiston Invitational on Saturday at Sweeney Track.

Coeur d’Alene’s girls had wins in the 4x100- and 4x200-meter relay to finish with 123.5 points.

Walla Walla won the boys team title with 134.5 points.

Post Falls sophomore Melody Kempton won the high jump with a jump of 5-feet, 8-inches, surpassing her own record set last year.

Peavy wins 300 hurdles at

Dolphin Invitational

SPOKANE — Senior Joe Peavy won the 300-meter hurdles in 43.95 seconds, helping the Lakeland boys to a third place finish in the Howard Dolphin/West Valley Invitational.

Peavy was second in the 100 hurdles in 17.11. David Moruzzi was second in the 200 (22.85) and ran a leg of the runner-up 4x100 relay team along with Peavy, Shaun Bailes and Bannock Pointer. Kaden Davis was third in the triple jump at 36-9.

Lakeland’s 4x100 girls relay team of Whitnee Skalskiy, Jillian Mael, Julia Kaplan and Tauna Kirk was second in 53.25. Kirk was second in the 300 hurdles (51.51) and third in the 100 hurdles (17.84, Isabelle Kirk third in the 800 (2:34.08) and Skalskiy second in the triple jump (36-0).

Charter girls second at

Central Idaho Invitational

LAPWAI — Brooklyn Cunningham won the 100-meter dash in 13.18 seconds and finished third in the 200 (27.76), helping the Panther girls finish second at the season-opening Central Idaho Invitational at Lapwai High.

Charter’s 4x200, 4x400 and sprint medley relay teams also won as the team finished second with 103 points.

Colfax won the girls meet with 137 points.

Landon Chang won the 1,600 in 4:56.84 for Coeur d’Alene Charter, which finished fifth in the boys meet.
