Presentation on college prep in April

COEUR d'ALENE — An expert on the college admissions process will host a free presentation next month in Coeur d'Alene.

Stanley B. Lemons, an author and trainer, will be at Lake City High School on Wednesday April, 13 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The interactive presentation will walk parents and students through critical steps needed to be successful in school, and ultimately earn college degrees.

The following are among some of the topics Lemons will discuss during the presentation:

• How to be successful in middle school and high school

• What colleges look for in applicants

• How to write successful college admissions essays

• How to pay for college

• How to get scholarship money for college

• Ten key "dos" and "don'ts" when applying for college

• How to ensure you not only get into college, but also graduate from college

Lemons, a Texas native, obtained a scholarship through the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas to attend Greenhill School. He later graduated from Amherst College, earned an MBA at UCLA, and completed executive education programs at Northwestern University and Harvard University.
