Betty Hollingsworth, 102

| March 15, 2016 9:00 PM

Betty Hollingsworth, 102, our beautiful singing mom, was called to sing and entertain up in Heaven on March 11, 2016. Betty was born Feb. 27, 1914, to James W. Carr and Carrie V. Carr in Columbus, Ohio. She was raised with five siblings.

Betty married Ben Franklin Baum in 1929 and raised five children; the late Mary L. Allton, Ruth Chase and Jane Smith, both from Post Falls, Idaho, Viola M. Jones of Thornville, Ohio, and Clyde E. Baum of Grants Pass, Ore.

Betty had 26 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren and several great-great-great-grandchildren.

Betty and Ben did a lot of dancing, marathons, walk-athons and vaudeville shows. Ben passed in 1962. Betty stayed active in the entertainment world off and on by singing and doing skits with two of her daughters, Ruth Chase and Jane Smith, at the Post Falls Senior Center; they were known as “mom and the red-heads.”

She brought out her love for people and life in her sweet smile and laughter. She’ll be sadly missed by everyone that knew here.

A visitation will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls. Please visit Betty’s online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
