OROFINO — Jerritt Plunkett struck out five over six innings as the Timberlake Tigers beat the Orofino Maniacs 6-4 in a nonleague game on Saturday at Orofino High.

“Jerritt threw 75 pitches and that was the only reason we took him out,” Timberlake coach Matt George said. “He threw a great game and just competed on the mound. We had to go out and compete on every pitch, and he embodied that. He wasn’t throwing, he was pitching and set the tone and everyone else responded.”

Timberlake took a 4-0 lead after the top of the first inning.

“We came out with a little more intensity than we had last night,” George said. “We had a couple of hits in the first inning and had some timely hits. We just manufactured runs out of the chances we had.”

Brady Nowlan, Seth Villanpando and Jaden Esquivel had RBIs for Timberlake (1-2), which plays at Sandpoint on Tuesday.
