De La Rosa defeated James Fisher of Centennial 6-0 in the championship match at 145 pounds for his fourth state championship recently at Holt Arena in Pocatello, becoming the first four-time state champion in school history.</p>

<p>Courtesy photo</p><p>Members of the Post Falls High School wrestling team paid a visit to a Team Real Life wrestling practice last week to show the younger wrestlers the Idaho state 5A wrestling championship team trophy and banner they had just earned as back to back state champions. Many of the high schoolers that have placed in or won championships for Post Falls High School at the state tournament got their starts with Team Real Life wrestling. Coach Pete Reardon offered the younger wrestlers words of encouragement about the dedication, sacrifice and hard work needed to be a successful student athlete and a successful adult. Senior and four-time state champion Alius De La Rosa and senior and two-time state champion Tyler Wolf offered more encouragement to their younger counterparts about the worthiness and benefits of the sport. Several of the high schoolers also shared stories with the Team Real Life wrestlers about their own experiences as Team Real Life wrestlers as they remained at the practice to assist</p><p>coaching the youngsters. <p>Courtesy photo</p><p>The Coeur d'Alene Thunder Bantam WK hockey team celebrates winning the West Kootenai Minor Hockey Association Tournament in Castlegar, British Columbia. The Thunder won the regular season, winning 11 and losing one in the 12-team league. In the league playoff tournament the Thunder defeated Nelson, British Columbia, 3-2 in the title game. The team's league record was 15-2, including the league championship last weekend in Castlegar. Their overall record was 30-8 with 236 goals scored and 87 goals allowed. In four tournaments the Thunder played in the championship game all four times, winning three and placing second once. The Thunder, ages 13 and 14, won the Tri Cities Desert Classic, the WKMHA Championship and the Idaho state championship.</p>

<p>On the weekend of Feb. 26-28, the Coeur d’Alene Thunder Peewee Team went to Midway, British Columbia, for the West Kootenay Playoffs. The Thunder won two games and lost two (both by one goal) and ended up taking third place in play-offs. The West Kootenay League consists of 10 teams, 9 of which are from British Columbia. The Thunder, whose age ranges from 10-12, went 9-2-2 in the regular season. This was the first year that the Coeur d’Alene Thunder had a Peewee team in this league. They also won a Peewee tournament in Nelson, British Columbia, in November, going 5-0 that weekend. Coeur d’Alene Sting under-12 girls gold: The Sting hosted the Mt. Ranier Football Club 03 Blue team last weekend at Canfield Middle School to continue their PSPL Classic 1 division play, and won 5-2. Sting goals were scored by Olivia Wyatt, Taytum Curtis, Amber Aittama (2) and Isabella Henckle. Amber Aittama, Amy Corette and Isabella Henckle had assists.

Sting boys U12 gold: The Sting tied Cascade FC B03 Green 2-2 in their first PSPL match of the spring season. Walker Jump and Alex Reyes each scored one goal for the Sting, and Miles Jones had two assists.

Technique Gymnastics boys and girls traveled to Missoula, Mont., for the Mismo Magical Meet the weekend of March 4-6. Following are those who placed in the top 3:

The Xcel Girls also took home 1st Place team.

SWIMMING

Coeur d’Alene Area Swim Team: Forty members of the Coeur d’Alene Area Swim Team (CAST) attended this past weekend’s meet at Whitworth University in Spokane, the annual Shamrock Shake-Up.

This meet is held as a last-chance qualifying meet for those swimmers whishing to attend the upcoming Sectional swim meet and two CAST swimmers punched their tickets to the big dance; Micah Sharples added to her resume by swimming a 2:16.55 200 Backstroke and placing 2nd in the event, an astonishingly fast swim for a 13 year old. Karter Rassmussen (14) continued to emerge as one of the most talented young swimmers on CAST swimming to a 58.46 in the 100 back.

Alisa Felshaw (13) continued her rapid progress and placed 2nd in the 50 fly (30.78), 2nd in the 50 back (33.83), 2nd in the 50 breast (39.25). Alisa is expected to emerge as one of the top new incoming freshmen for high school swimming in the fall. Gabby Garansky, just 9 years old, has emerged in just a few short months of swimming as one of the top 10 and under swimmers in the region finishing 1st in the 50 back (39.16), 3rd in the 50 fly (39.02), 2nd in the 100 free (1:20.81), 3rd in the 100 IM (1:28.53), and 2nd in the 100 back (1:26.34).

Other swimmers on CAST placing in the top three were Cameron Craigie (12); 1st in the 50 fly (29.87), 1st in the 100 breast (1:19.84), 2nd 200 free (2:18.36), 1st 50 back (33.65), and 1st in the 100 free (1:00.01). Lochan Cleary (8) 2nd in the 200 free (3:45.42), 2nd 25 back (22.02). Lance Emry (10) continued his hot streak with 3rd in the 200 free (3:05.43), 3rd in the 50 fly (48.92), 2nd in the 100 breast (1:52.37),3rd in the 50 back (43.39), 3rd in the 100 free (1:38.01), and 3rd in the 100 back (1:33.59).

Kaleigh Goetz swam to 3rd place finishes in the 100 Breast (1:42.55) and the 50 free (33.07). Sarah Gonzales (11) swam only two events and placed 2nd in both swimming the 100 free (1:03.24) and the 100 IM (1:12.18). Cody Graves (15) placed 3rd in the 500 free (5:46.92) and 3rd in the 100 breast (1:15.37). Erin Griffith has emerged as one of the most talented 8 year old girls ever seen on CAST finishing 1st in the 50 fly (42.66), 2nd in the 25 fly (18.64), 3rd in the 50 breast (53.70), 3rd in the 25 back (20.98), 2nd in the 50 free (39.16), 2nd in the 25 breast, 3rd in the 25 free (17.71), 2nd in the 50 back (43.79). Erin is the only 8 year old to swim the 200 fly in competition for CAST.

Rylee Hagins (11) placed 2nd in the 50 breast (56.28), 3rd in the 100 free (1:39.76), and 3rd in the 50 back (51.92). Christopher Hartman (14) placed 2nd in the 200 back (2:26.35), 2nd in the 200 fly (2:43.06), 2nd in the 1650 free (20:09.90), and 3rd in the 100 back (1:07.53). Josh Hudlet (13) placed 3rd in the 500 free (6:24.84). Sarah Kaitz (14) placed 1st in the 50 fly (30.82), and 2nd in the 100 breast (1:18.22). Jarron Kremin (12) placed 3rd in the 200 free (4:00.97), 3rd in the 100 back (2:08.57), and 3rd in the 50 Breast (1:04.23). Ben Madsen (12) continued his quick improvement as a new swimmer and placed 1st in the 100 free (1:17.83), 2nd in the 1650 free (28.38), 2nd in the 100 back (1:43.38), and 2nd in the 200 free (2:59.61). Hope McWilliams (13) placed 3rd in the 400 IM (5:54.51) and the 50 back (34.77). Henry Schmick (15) placed 2nd in the 50 back (34.17). Lanis Webb placed 2nd in the 500 free (6:50.42). Tristan Whiting (16) placed first in the 500 free (5:04..27). And Ruthy Winton (16) placed 2nd in the 1650 free (26.04.76).
