FEAR: Strikes close to home

| March 6, 2016 8:00 PM

The current climate of fear has seeped into my neighborhood. My next door neighbor observed my son cutting across her lawn and entering my backyard gate. She immediately called the police tip line. Four cop cars and multiple officers converged on my house, beating on the front door, harassing my son, questioning the fact that he lives here and demanding to see the owner of the house. When my son explained that the owner was resting, the officer would not leave or let my son close the door until the officer was allowed to come in and see the owner resting in his bed down the hall. In the meantime, three other officers entered the house without authorization.

I have received no apology for the intrusion or explanation of why this escalated into a neighborhood fiasco. It has left the whole neighborhood feeling uneasy. My husband and I have lived here for 30 years and have never seen anything like this.
