CRUZ: Better than Trump

| March 6, 2016 8:00 PM

Last year, I began to think that Trump could be the one to turn the country around. The establishment GOP hates him, the Democrats loathe him, and he is beholden to no force other than himself. Intrigued, I began to examine what he is saying compared to his history.

I found that Trump had praised Planned Parenthood, donated to Hillary Clinton, supported amnesty for illegal aliens including supporting Marco Rubio in his work with the pro-amnesty Group of Eight. Trump supported the auto manufacturers bailout, the banking bailout, and even universal healthcare. Amazingly, he even supports additional gun restrictions.

Unfortunately, I am now convinced that Trump is simply playing a character that he feels will resonate with the voters like me who are sick and tired of business as usual.

As of Wednesday, there are only three leading candidates. Trump has 319 delegates, Cruz has 226 and Rubio has 110. No other candidate has more than 25. Rubio is weak on immigration, possibly because he was born in the US to non-citizens who had just arrived here themselves as illegal aliens. He also once voted for restrictions on guns in public places and his record in the Senate is disheartening, to say the least.

This led me to examine Cruz. What I found was a man who stands for what he believes in and doesn’t change his tune or actions to climb the political ladder. He has consistently refused to compromise his values for political expediency. He believes in and loves the Constitution. For most of my life, I have yearned for another true leader like Ronald Reagan who loves America. I have come to believe that Ted Cruz is that leader, and I ask you to join me in voting for him Tuesday, March 8th.
