Mildred Mae Hovland, 87

| March 3, 2016 9:30 AM

Mildred Mae Hovland, 87, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Gladys Dunsmore; brother Clarence; sisters Evelyn and Lois; and daughter Kathy Sprankle. Mildred was born in Big Creek, outside Kellogg, Idaho, where she met her husband, Marvin Hovland, and they moved to the Coeur d’Alene area shortly after. They enjoyed 60 years together.

Upon her passing, her remaining three children, Peggy (Fred) White, Helen (Bruce) Swofford and David Hovland were at her side along with many other friends and family who spent good times and memories with her. She was blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will miss her forever.

Mildred worked for 31 years as the owner of Country Girl Cleaning Service where she enjoyed working for a time alongside her children and other family members. She was often seen scaling the buildings to clean windows and other tasks to the sheer terror and quiet amusement of her friends and family. Mildred enjoyed spending her days with her friends playing bingo, playing cards and telling stories. Some of her happiest times were spending the summers with her wonderful husband and family fishing in Canada and traveling in their motor home.

Mildred lived for everyone and never hesitated to extend that love to dear friends and those around her. She treated everyone as if they were family and wouldn’t allow you leave her home without offering a hot meal, a hug and a warm smile. She sang while she gardened and loved stopping to watch the ducks and animals. She will be missed and remembered with fond memories for all time.

Our thanks to Hospice for all their help and care.

Services will be held from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2016, at the Contemporary Conservatory, 9407 N. Government Way, Hayden.

Please join us after the ceremony for some food and to share your memories.
