John William Schroeder

John William Schroeder passed away Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, from cancer. He had the highest degree of courage, he fought a brave and strong fight.

He was a good husband, father, papa and son-in-law. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Penny; two boys Jeremy and Johnny; granddaughters Rylee and Aubrey; mother-in-law Donna; brother Pat and his wife Pam; sister Peggy and her husband Dave; niece Kaitlin and nephew David; sister-in-law Nancy and niece Emilie; plus many friends.

John was born and lived in Chicago, Ill., to Jack and Catherine Schroeder. As a 2-year-old child, John moved with his family to California where he attended school in Anaheim. There he was drafted out of Magnolia High School in 1969 to the California Angels Professional Baseball Team. John enlisted in the United States Army and later the Army National Guard.

In 1989, he moved his family to North Idaho and made it home. His favorite pastimes were enjoying his boys and granddaughters, listening to Elvis, camping and golfing with his buddies John, Roger and Brando. He thoroughly enjoyed sports, especially NASCAR.

At John’s request, no services will be held. He wanted family and friends to celebrate his life at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016, at the Saddle Sore Inn, 6891 W. Seltice Way, Stateline, Idaho.
