Thomas H. Stumpf, 79, of Hayden, Idaho, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016.

Tom was born in Fresno, Calif., on Nov. 30, 1936. He served proudly and honorably in the United States Marine Corps from Sept. 4, 1957, to April 14, 1963. His favorite motto was: “Once a Marine, always a Marine.”

Tom enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards with devoted friends and spreading the Gospel message.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Stumpf of Fresno and Lydia Roth of Russia.

Tom is survived by his wife, Janice; brother Martin Stumpf and wife Lin; sisters Kathy Marques and Rebecca Stumpf; five children Erich Stumpf, Suzanne and Karen of Fresno, Eric Schmidt and wife Amy of Sacramento, and Evan and Alysia Schmidt of Three Rivers, Calif.; also nine grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Fellowship Bible Church, 1220 Idaho St., Post Falls, Idaho, with a reception following the service.
