PASCO, Wash. — The Mountaineers mustered two hits against the Outlaws in the Outlaw Shootout game on Friday, but due to unusual circumstances, Northern Lakes coach Al Bevacqua said he was “extremely proud of his team.”
Starting catcher Jared McDaniel was hit by a pitch in the first inning. Tyler Blood was scheduled to pitch, but because the designated hitter was hitting for the pitcher, DH Dylan Bradbury took over at catcher. Braden Gifford replaced McDaniel in the batting order, and pitched.
Trent Sellers, a sophomore who has committed to Washington State, struck out 13 in six innings for Kennewick.
Northern Lakes (7-6) plays the Missoula Prospects today at 1:30 at Columbia Basin College in Pasco.

two at tourney
PULLMAN — Jake Grinde drove in four runs for Coeur d’Alene in a loss to the Apple Valley Packers of Wenatchee, Wash., in the Lums’ first game of the day at the Palouse Summer Series at Washington State’s Bailey-Brayton Field.
The Lums then fell 14-4 in five innings to the Federal Way Buzz, also at WSU.
“It was a rough day, to say the least,” Coeur d’Alene coach Zach Clanton said. “Jake Grinde had a good game in the first game, and Kaleb Reid had four stolen bases in the second game. It was unfortunate; we’ve got to come to play a little more, and be a little more competitive on the mound.”
Coeur d’Alene (5-11) wraps up tourney play today vs. Rock Creek Select at 1 p.m. in Colfax.
