GUNS: The real fear mongers
The elephant in the room that everyone is ignoring is that murder is illegal. For purposes of this letter, it always has been illegal.
We have currently more than 20,000 “common sense” gun laws on the books and not one of them has prevented murder. If passing one more law would stop violent crime and murder, let’s pass another one against murder and be done with it.
All the other talk about meaningful gun control and limiting the availability of guns to certain persons is just so much political blather.
“Weapons of war on our streets” is a good example of political blather, fear mongering and obfuscation. The horror in Florida could have been much worse with two or three quarts of napalm (a weapon of war) readily available on almost every street corner. All you need is gasoline, gelatin (flavored or unflavored) and glass containers along with a couple of road flares (available at any auto parts store).
We have the Second Amendment to the Constitution for good reason. It allows us armed self-defense so that our homes are truly our castles. Every politician who decries otherwise must be looked at with skepticism and always with suspicion of some other objective. Otherwise, why all the fear mongering?
