ABORTION: Washington's way
I’ll never forget when I moved to Spokane in 1973 after several years in California and, heaving a big sigh, I thought finally I get to live in a conservative part of the country! This became especially real as I began to hear the comparisons with the west side of the state so I was beginning to feel right at home. BUT then I began to find out about long time (and later, Speaker of the House) representative Tom Foley whose voting record was atrocious — but the great folks of eastern Washington kept returning him to the House. I couldn’t believe it!
Now I read, tucked away in section C, page 8 of this paper, that a Washington state judge from the west side (of course) ruled that all public hospitals in the state which provide maternity services must also provide abortions at taxpayer expense! I’m so glad I don’t live in Washington anymore! BUT, DON’T KID YOURSELF! This kind of sick thinking is headed our way, for sure. So, where do we go next?
