GUNS: Know definitions

| June 19, 2016 9:00 PM

Before any misguided talks of banning certain weapons you first need to understand what you are talking about as in “assault rifles.” The average person when they say assault rifle has a mental image of a military style rifle with selective fire, a large capacity detachable magazine, adjustable stock, a pistol grip and is illegal for an unlicensed civilian to own because of the selective fire.

Now instead of selective fire you make it semiautomatic meaning it will fire almost as fast as you can pull the trigger but only one bullet at a time and it is perfectly legal for almost any adult to buy. To make it even more confusing this same mechanism can be placed in an innocent looking wooden stock and because of no pistol grip or adjustable stock is not called an assault weapon by any definition. By the way you don’t want to forget high capacity semi-auto pistols.

Hopefully you are beginning to see banning these high kill weapons that are difficult to even describe would not only be hard to do but you would never get the guns out there back.

No, if we are going to control anything everyone needs to understand that with everything going on in the Orlando killer’s past and according to the NRA and gun manufacturers’ view of the second he was able to legally buy his weapons and ammo, that, my friends, is where the problem is.

Another thing, trying to dump this off because Muslims don’t like gays is not going to work when you remember the number of so-called Christians right here in the Northwest part of our little world who have the same if not even stronger feeling about them and probably applaud this murder.

I do wonder how many great defenders of the second and owners of these rapid fire weapons, deep down are hoping for a excuse to use them?

There is one thing we could do and that is to stop using these mentally deranged animals names and pictures, as in no fame.
