Bill Brunelle, 90, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away June 15, 2016, peacefully after a valiant battle with kidney failure and cancer.

Bill was born Dec. 17, 1925, in Coeur d’Alene. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II after starting his service training in Farragut, Idaho.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Delana Brunelle; brothers Bob and John; sister Mary June Haraldson; son Bill and daughter Cherine.

Bill is survived by his son, Matt Brunelle; nephews Ron Brunelle and Bill Haraldson; and niece Barbara Thompson. He is also survived by Barb Kobs, a devoted companion and friend for 49 years. Barb and Bill traveled to many countries and enjoyed camping, backpacking and golf.

Bill retired from Diamond International Lumber Company. He worked as their head filer. After retiring, he began business ventures as a consultant for lumber mill enterprises internationally. Thus, he spent time in Cameroon, Africa, Malaysia, Canada and Alaska.

He was well liked and a mentor to many young people who admired him for his knowledge and experience in the world. In his 90 years, he lived a productive, full life. After becoming ill, he fought bravely each day to be with those he loved; he broke their hearts with his passing. He will be missed by those who shared his life and for whom he brought great joy, love and happiness.

His family would like to thank Hospice of North Idaho, in particular Hospice House, for all of the loving care he was given.

As per his request, no services will be held at this time. Later in the summer, there will be a celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of North Idaho-House, 2290 W. Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815.

English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, is in care of the arrangements.
