Kenneth R. Hollingsworth, 75

| June 13, 2016 12:38 PM

Kenneth R. Hollingsworth died peacefully at home on June 11, 2016.

Born in Pueblo, Colorado March 18, 1941 to Alvin Hollingsworth and Florence Hill Hollingsworth, he moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho at age 2.  He graduated from Post High School, North Idaho Junior College, and University of Idaho with a degree in business.

He settled in Boise, Idaho with his first wife Rita and their three daughters, working for Boise Cascade before retiring in 1978 and returning to Coeur d’Alene.

In his younger days, Ken enjoyed fishing, boating, and camping with his family.  He had a keen mind and enjoyed crosswords and other puzzles.  He was avid sports fan, particularly of the New York Yankees, and those who knew him most often saw him donning a Yankees cap. He loved doing yard work and projects around the house, and had a weakness for frozen Snickers bars and chocolate cake. He suffered from ankylosing spondylitis, an inflammatory disease that causes debilitating pain, but still kept a cheerful smile on his face for everyone he met.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Irvin Wayne Hollingsworth.  He is survived by his siblings Shirley Dubuque of Otis Orchards, Marvin Hollingsworth of New Jersey, Gwynne Larabee and Vern Purinton of Rathdrum; daughters Melinda Cardwell and Kelly Hollingsworth of Coeur d'Alene and Margo Gore of Meridian; grandsons Kenneth and Benjamin Jensen of Boise, Tanner and Evan Gore of Meridian; and his great granddaughter Zoe Jane Jensen of Boise.

Friends and family are invited to Pizza Factory, 503 West Appleway in Coeur d’Alene, on Thursday evening at six pm to share memories of Ken.
