SKATEBOARDERS: A real menace
Thank you for the opportunity to voice my opinion by printing this letter.
I’m a senior lady born and raised in Coeur d’Alene. Recently I was going down Sherman Avenue. I had two young men, teens, on skateboards jump right in front of my van. I hit the brakes hard so I would not hit them. The car behind me almost rear-ended me. Scared me senseless!
We need rules for the skateboards just like cars and bikes, and police on the streets to write them tickets. They seem to have no regard for life — theirs or others’.
What to do about this, Coeur d’Alene? Another lady on the sidewalk fell to her knees when a skateboard came from behind her. Why, for heaven’s sake, do we have to put up with this? The boys just left her there with no apology. I’m so very upset as I write — they laughed! Please give us some answers on this matter.
Lord knows if we hit them with our car there would be no mercy for us. Hire some vets or senior gentlemen to protect our streets and sidewalks before this gets any worse or someone dies or gets permanent body damage from the rude punks.
Coeur d’Alene is getting like L.A. I’m too old to move, a homeowner on Sanders. We want the peaceful lifestyle we used to have here. Thanks City Council, you took our lovely city and made a tourist trap out of it. Crime is up and it is unsafe to live here! Someone is lining their pockets and it is not us taxpayers. No one we talk to likes Coeur d’Alene anymore — shame!
