CLIMATE: Yes, there's consensus

| June 8, 2016 9:00 PM

There was a recent letter asking where the 96 percent consensus amongst climate scientists came from, proudly stating the author’s certainty that there was no consensus and that questions had not been asked of the academics we task with finding answers for us.

While I cannot know for sure which massive consensus study the figure is drawn from, the consensus of all consensus studies is around 97 percent. The latest large scale consensus study can be found at: http://bit.ly/1rci4bp

It covers seven previous consensus studies and more than 11,000 individual studies.

While we can never prove a theory and I have no intention of debating the validity of climate change, the statement that there is a consensus on it amongst climate scientists is a fact and that consensus level is about 97 percent.

It is up to scientists to disprove it if they can, but being blind to their findings is to abandon the great quest for knowledge that makes this country great.
