TRIBE: Thanks for support

| June 5, 2016 9:00 PM

I read an article in the Coeur d’Alene Press (June 2016) with the headline “Tribe announces $1.37M in education donations.” The article stated that the Coeur d’Alene Tribe has made cumulative donations to Idaho schools in excess of $24.1 million since 1992. According to Chief Allen, “Education changed my life and opened so many doors for me.”

As an educator, I sometimes wonder if people understand the local impact that tribal efforts have on the students not only across the state but locally. Recently, the Coeur d’Alene Tribe has fulfilled a sixth-grade grant request for Canfield Middle School. This donation is to provide funding for class sets of laptops for our two social studies classes. Our students will have opportunities to explore different paths in their learning, helping them realize their full potential through engaging lessons. What my colleagues and I have worked toward is actually coming to fruition!

As a parent and teacher, I want to thank the Coeur d’Alene Tribe for their commitment to educating our children in the state of Idaho.
