DRIVERS: The yellow plague
In response to Joseph Esteph’s letter “Pedestrians: Please be alert” (May 27):
Mr. Esteph, perhaps you should stop running yellow lights. On any given day at any given intersection in Coeur d’Alene I witness folks blowing through yellow and red lights. Not only does this cause crashes and fatalities, it also screws up traffic flow.
My commute home takes me west on Hanley Avenue, having to turn left (south) onto Ramsey Road. I’ve sat through three green lights at times because the eastbound Hanley Avenue traffic just has to get through that yellow/red light even though they can see that someone is in the middle of the intersection. I guess I would happily wait for a pedestrian rather than be hit by a one- or two-ton vehicle.
Last Mr. Esteph, if you are not from California, what is your hurry? Be careful out there.

P.S. Coeur d’Alene could generate big revenue from red light cameras.
