Lenore 'Leni' Tornquist Griffin, 88

| July 6, 2016 9:00 PM

Lenore “Leni” Tornquist Griffin was born on Aug. 14, 1927, in New Windsor, Ill. She was born the second child of Glenn and Gertrude Tornquist.

Leni moved to Los Angeles, Calif., when she was just 17 years of age. She relocated from California to Illinois a number of times before settling in California, where she lived until 1993 when she moved up to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. While living in California, she worked for many years at Parker Hannifin Aerospace. She enjoyed those years and made many wonderful friends with whom she always remained in close contact.

After her move to Idaho, she was very active in golf, bowling and bridge, and made a whole new group of friends that she has cherished dearly. Leni loved life, her family and friends and was very strong in her Christian faith. She attended Lake City Community Church regularly and shared her love for God wherever she went.

She passed peacefully in the morning hours of July 2, 2016, at the Hospice House of North Idaho. All of Leni’s family would like to express sincere appreciation to the wonderful people there who took such good care of her in her final days. We would also like to thank The Renaissance Assisted Living for the wonderful and loving care they gave Leni during her time with them.

She is survived by her son, Luke Griffin and daughter-in-law Cyndy Griffin of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; daughter Julie Furin and son-in-law Steve Furin of Sagle, Idaho; grandchildren Kelsey and her husband Mason Lopez, Sara Griffin, Derek Griffin, Kaitlynn Furin and Jakob Furin; her brother, Robert Tornquist and family; and sister Donna Jo Hamburg and family of Moline, Ill.

There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016, at the home of Luke and Cyndy Griffin, 2041 E. Goldleaf Lane, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815. Dessert and coffee to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the families have asked to please make donations to the Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835.
