EDITORIAL: A slanted view
I have to respond to the editorial in The Press on Jan. 27 regarding the Houston grand jury’s charges in the Planned Parenthood “baby body parts scandal.” The two undercover activists/filmmakers who were charged with tampering with government records (drivers licenses) and conspiracy to purchase fetal body parts, did the country a great service in uncovering Planned Parenthood’s evil business practice, which Planned Parenthood themselves admitted to and promised to end.
Upon reading Wednesday’s editorial one might conclude that Planned Parenthood did nothing wrong or illegal, and hence, the charges against the two undercovers. Let’s be clear; the grand jury did not conclude any tampering or creative editing of the footage obtained, which speaks for itself disgustingly enough, only the means of gathering. I am disappointed but not surprised that the editorial was clearly slanted against the activists and positively towards Planned Parenthood.
Regarding the charges filed alleging the tampering of governmental records, I would assert that the drivers licenses used to gain entrance to Planned Parenthood’s building were manufactured by an entity other than a government, and therefore not actually a bona-fide ‘government’ record, though used as such to gain entry. So legally, there goes that bogus charge. If Planned Parenthood does such good work for women, why do they need such stringent security measures? To keep activists like the two charged, from entering a building that I would argue, is a public building, since they receive a great deal of taxpayer money from you and me. They maintain a list of possible troublemakers who are not permitted to enter their premises. Now about the second charge of conspiracy to purchase and sell human body parts; also bogus because any person with a heartbeat whose life has yet to be snuffed out by a ‘well intentioned’ doctor, can see that these two people had absolutely no plans to actually purchase or sell anything. They were thankfully exposing Planned Parenthood for what it is, and I am going to send them my donation to assist in their defense. If Planned Parenthood is so great, why do taxpayers have to support them? My tax dollars should not go toward abortion!
And yes, the one thing in the editorial I agree with is that we should question everything, including a biased editorial masquerading as fact.
