PREP BASKETBALL: Post Falls girls triumph twice

| December 23, 2016 8:00 PM

• GIRLS

After having three games cancelled last weekend due to slick roads, the Post Falls girls made up for one of them on Thursday, while playing — and winning — twice in the Treasure Valley.

Bayley Brennan and Jacksen McCliment-Call scored 12 points each and Melody Kempton added 10 points as the Trojans beat the Timberline Wolves 50-22 in a TimberLion tournament game at Timberline High in Boise.

“We got off to a good start and then defensively we played really well,” said Post Falls coach Marc Allert, whose team beat Kuna 55-38 earlier in the day in Kuna. “I was proud of our effort and energy all night, especially after playing earlier in the day. The girls responded to the challenge really well.”

Timberline is 6-6.

Macky Morris had 10 rebounds for Post Falls (10-0), which faces Borah today at Borah High in Boise to conclude the trip.

Earlier, Kempton had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Trojans in a 55-38 win over the host Kuna Kavemen, in a game added to make up for one of the lost games last week.

Post Falls outscored Kuna 24-12 in the second quarter, with Jacksen McCliment-Call scoring eight of her 12 points in the quarter to give the Trojans a 36-26 lead.

“We started out kind of slow,” Allert said. “Kuna just gets the ball and goes down the court and we started a little slow. We were able to get some turnovers and shot the ball a little better in the second quarter and played a little better on defense. Jacksen gave us a good lift and did a good job for us.”

Meghan Holloman scored 10 points for Kuna (5-6).
