CDA: Can't justify taxes

| December 21, 2016 8:00 PM

If your total taxable property value is $400K and you live in Coeur d’Alene you will pay an extra $2,361.68 for line item 202 (which goes directly to the city), $500K you pay $2,952.10, and for $600K you pay $3,542.52 for 2016. If you live in Hayden or other surrounding cities, you pay a fraction of this amount (less than 25 percent) to that city for its services.

How can the city of Coeur d’Alene justify this incredible discrepancy in their rate of tax on their property owners versus the surrounding cities? The property owners need to challenge the tax rate that is being applied to this line item (202) which is currently 5.9042510 percent of every taxable dollar of property value.

We are being hosed in a major way and are being taxed right out of our city! We, as property owners, should call for a public hearing to openly discuss this issue.
