PARK: Area mismatch

| December 11, 2016 8:00 PM

Kootenai County’s reckless scheme of a massive off-road vehicle park on Twete Road would inflict an irreparable wound on an extraordinary rural landscape. The area is visited by thousands of people yearly looking to escape a congested, chaotic, fast-paced and noisy environment along with other negatives this nightmare would spawn.

Campers, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts are eager to retreat from rambunctious environments. Visitors travel here specifically for the natural beauty, the peace and tranquility, and the wildlife. The area serves as a precious wildlife area and its loss would impact their numbers. The character of this area would be destroyed. The loss of our natural open land would be lost forever to the detriment of us and our future generations. The off-road park concept in this area is like oil and water, it simply does not mix.
