LAWS: Can't pick, choose

Once Trump takes office, mayors and supporters of sanctuary cities are going to learn a lesson that then-President Eisenhower taught to then-Arkansas governor Orval Faubus, who had refused to desegregate Little Rock’s schools.

Eisenhower federalized the Arkansas National Guard and forced the schools to integrate. Local jurisdictions, like cities or states, don’t have the right to decide which laws they want to obey and which laws they want to defy. Sixty years ago, racists learned that lesson. Now it’s time for liberal airheads to learn it also. Trump won’t use force; he will simply withhold federal funding and file lawsuits if necessary to enforce the law.
