Clarkston High grad Dahmen earns PGA Tour card
Joel Dahmen, a Clarkston High graduate who played in The Showcase golf exhibition at the Coeur d’Alene Resort in 2014, earned a PGA Tour card for next season after finishing in the top 25 of the Web.com Tour, which sends its top 25 golfers on the money list directly to the tour.
Entering the Web.com Tour’s final event, Dahmen was in the No. 22 position, but continued to spiral down the leaderboard at the Portland Open last week. Last Friday, Dahmen shot a 3-over 74 to finish 5-over for the tournament and miss the cut.
By virtue of another player missing a birdie putt on the 18th hole of the final round of the tourney in North Plains, Ore., Dahmen punched his ticket by finishing 25th on the Web.com Tour money list by $975.
“My fate was in their hands, but my caddy called me and he told me I was in,” Dahmen told the Lewiston Tribune. “And he would obviously never tell me unless he was sure. Kind of at that point, I realized it was actually real.”
Dahmen’s caddie, Geno Bonnalie of Lewiston, is the son-in-law of Post Falls Mayor Ron Jacobson.
