New eatery for old midtown building
The Bluebird, a new midtown eatery, will open 4 p.m. Wednesday at 816 N. Fourth St. With seating for 42 inside and more outside in the summer, the historic building previously was Mid-City Pub, BoJacks and The Office.
The menu includes several appetizers and side dishes, salads, soups, entrees, desserts and beverages. Owners Viljo and Autumn Basso, in the restaurant business since 1995, offer quality ingredients and locally sourced products. They also have the Syringa restaurant a few blocks north. Krista French is the house manager and wine specialist.
Beginning hours are 4 p.m. to closing Tuesday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to closing Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Phone 665-3777.
Clothes, accessories and special classes are available at Willow Market & Boutique that opened last week at 400 N. Fourth St.
Owner Kristin Moore describes the inventory as “cute and trendy clothes from extra small to tall and curvy with accessories to match every outfit and style. Local entrepreneurs offer amazing talent and unique goods.” Lori SiJohn from Sailor Girl Soap has whipped body butters, soaps, lotions and more.
Classes will include chalk painting, making cleaning supplies and laundry soap and essential oils. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
“Finely crafted beers made in Idaho” are featured at the Post Falls Brewing Co. that opened last weekend at 112 N. Spokane St. The new building offers seating and views above the Spokane River.
Hours are 2 to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. A Mug Club will start June 1. Check www.postfallsbrewingco.com.
About 100 vendors will participate the opening of the 30th annual Kootenai County Farmers Market this Saturday in the southeast corner of Highway 95 and Prairie Avenue in Hayden
Everything is grown, harvested or produced by local vendors who accept EBT and have a new Double Up Bucks program. The weekly event includes lunch, coffee, live music and local eggs, milk, meat, breads, sweet treats, honey, cheese, vegetables, and locally adapted vegetable or ornamental plant starts.

n Too many people who don’t really need handicapped parking fill the spaces and prevent those who really need them from using them. The places marked “van only” are for people in wheelchairs who must exit their vehicles from the side.
