PREP TENNIS: Singles wins propel Lake City past Post Falls

POST FALLS — The visiting Lake City Timberwolves won all six singles matches, and one in boys doubles, to edge the Post Falls Trojans 7-5 on Tuesday.

Post Falls coach Kirk Hartzell had praise for Jack DuCoeur, a freshman playing at No. 1 boys singles for Lake City (“we knew he was solid, and he was all of that and more”), and Sydney Jackson, who won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles for the T-Wolf girls (she “put on the most dominant performance in the match”).

Hartzell also noted his No. 3 singles player, Tyler Baker, is out with an injury, and because of that, “it affected four different events” as Hartzell had to shuffle players around.

Post Falls plays host to Lakeland today at 3. Lake City returns to action Friday and Saturday at the Inland Empire Tournament in Spokane.

Mitchell wins Kraus

HAYDEN LAKE — Coeur d’Alene’s Chase Mitchell earned medalist honors with a birdie 3 on the first hole of a playoff with Lewiston’s Lance Rudell during Monday’s boys Kraus Invitational at Avondale Golf Club.

Lewiston won the boys team title with 308.

Post Falls shot a 391 to clip Lake City for the girls title at the tournament, held at Hayden Lake Country Club.
