About 50 models are preparing to spring into action for the 3Cs (Cancer and Community Charities) annual "Spring into Fashion" show at The Coeur d'Alene Resort.

The fashion show and luncheon will be held May 9 at 11:30 a.m. with a silent auction, raffles and a performance by the 3Cs Dancing Queens to entertain guests during the two-hour event.

Marcia Saunders, 3Cs publicity chair, said most of the models who participate in the fashion show are 3Cs members of all adult ages, shapes and sizes.

"I think that is what so many people appreciate about our fashion show is they can actually see themselves in the clothes," said Angela Cross, fashion show chairwoman.

Saunders said the fashions range from casual to formal. Marie Widmyer, fashion show coordinator, is in charge of the wardrobe and the various fashions worn in the show are provided by various stores.

"It's local shops that provide the fashions," Saunders said. "Beautiful fashions; they are gorgeous."

The 3Cs organization is a group of women volunteers committed to raising funds to fight cancer and support local charities.

Cross said the fashion show is one of 3Cs' largest fundraisers. All proceeds benefit select nonprofit organizations in Kootenai County and Saunders said last year 3Cs gave $100,000 to 32 nonprofits in the county.

The "Glitz and Glamour" raffles includes a gift certificate from the Coeur d'Alene resort for $700, and $700-$800 in gift certificates from the various stores that participate in the fashion show. The first winner will have the option to choose which gift certificate they want.

Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased by sending payment and a self-addressed stamped envelope to 3Cs Fashion Show, P.O. Box 1274, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814.

Reservations are required for the event and must be made by May 3. No tickets will be sold at the door.
