Kastning, a junior centerfielder from Lakeland High in Rathdrum, was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Kastning was a driving force in the team’s 7-1 week last week, which was part of a nine-game winning streak that saw the Chargers (21-7, 16-4 GLIAC) shoot up the conference standingss to second place overall. In eight games last week, Kastning batted .478 with a .696 slugging percentage, extending her hitting streak to 21 games, the longest by any Charger softball player in more than 20 years.

Lindsie Scholwinksi

Southeastern softball

Scholwinski, a junior from Coeur d’Alene High, was named The Sun Conference Player of the Week for the third consecutive week, and fifth time overall this season. Scholwinski struck out 11 and allowed five hits in a win over Keiser on Saturday. The next day, she powered through all 14 innings in a sweep of St. Thomas, throwing a one-hitter in the second game. She is currently ranked first in the NAIA with 25 wins.
