A pulled pork benefit for Val Rickel, a nine-year Navy sonar veteran battling cancer, will be held Saturday at American Legion Post 149 in Athol.

The event will start at 5 p.m. at the Legion headquarters on Highway 54, between the tracks.

Sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 149, dinner is $7. The evening will include a silent auction and raffles.

Rickel, a fourth-generation North Idahoan, recently retired as an electrical lineman. He and his wife, Cheryl, have a daughter and granddaughter.
