NIC SOFTBALL: Howard helps Cards salvage win at tourney

YAKIMA, Wash. — Former Coeur d’Alene High standout Abby Howard homered and drove in five runs as North Idaho College wrapped up play at the NWAC Crossover Tournament with a 23-2 drubbing of Clark Community College of Vancouver, Wash., on Sunday at Gateway Complex.
Howard hit a two-run homer in a seven-run third inning for NIC (19-9). Emily Aspden went 3 for 3 and scored four runs, Lexi Courtney was 3 for 3 with three runs and three RBIs, and Jamie Yurick was 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs and two runs scored.
Earlier Sunday, NIC lost 3-2 to Clackamas Community College of Salem, Ore., at Kiwanis Park. No other information was available.
NIC, which lost 13-4 to Edmonds late Saturday, plays host to Treasure Valley on Friday in a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Lake City High.
