Anita Louise Louks, 82

| April 13, 2016 9:00 PM

Anita Louise Louks, 82, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away April 1, 2016, in Coeur d’Alene. She was born May 4, 1933, as the third child to Anna Louise Heinauer and Arthur Heinauer. She was born in Upland, Calif., and had an older sister, Dora Mae, who preceded her in death and an older brother A.A.”Dutch” Heinauer, who lives in Oregon.

Anita gave birth to two daughters, Jeni Lee and Janice Louise. Anita met her husband to-be, Darrell L. “Jerry” Louks on the sands of Laguna Beach, Calif., during spring break of 1949 when she was a sophomore of Laguna Beach High School and he was a senior at San Bernardino High.

This chance meeting spawned a long distance romance that culminated in their wedding on June 29, 1951, in Memphis, Tenn., where her fiancé was attending school at the U.S. Navy Technical Learning Center in nearby Millington, having enlisted in the Navy with the outbreak of hostilities in Korea. This would begin an odyssey that would lead them to Florida, California, Arizona and back to California and finally upon retirement to the Panhandle of North Idaho.

Anita leaves behind her husband, her daughters, brother and nine grandchildren, who will miss her greatly and mourn her passing, but give thanks that the pain and frustration and anger brought on by Alzheimer’s is over at last.

At her request, no services will be held. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, is in care of arrangements.
