SWIM: And save lives

| April 10, 2016 9:00 PM

I thank you for your April 3 article on the Kroc 3rd Grade Swim program. It has been near and dear to my heart for more than 20 years and I am honored to be a part of it.

I do want Press readers to know that the Kroc Center also has a Learn to Swim program for ages 6 months to 109+ years! We start with a Parent/Tot program introducing both to safe practices in and around the water. We then transition our 3-5-year-olds to a Preschool program. Children and youth ages 6+ are progressed through tried and true American Red Cross curriculum that is specifically geared to our area. As youth progress in their skills they can also join our pre-competitive Kroc Swim Team. Our instructors are trained at the Kroc and are held to a high standard of excellence.

Our newest program, United States Masters Swimming Adult Learn to Swim, will debut this summer. This newly released curriculum teaches the same vital safety skills that are taught in the third-grade program, but respects ingrained fear of deep water and our adult non swimming population. Our seasoned Kroc Masters coaches and swimmers are excited to teach! I hope that all local swim lesson programs where the vital skill of swimming and water safety are taught are filled to the brim and that we have a safe summer!

Thanks to all that have contributed to the 3rd Grade Swim program.
