“We couldn’t get any rythmn going and had a couple of innings that just wrecked us,” said St. Maries coach Todd Bitterman, whose team hadn’t played since March 26. “Of the six errors we committed, they were just focus mistakes. We’re still shaking off the rust I guess.”

“I thought our intensity level was good and we played with a lot of energy, which was good to see,” said Lake City coach Paul Manzardo, whose team hadn’t played since March 26. “We hadn’t played in two weeks, and a lot of them didn’t lose their stride. Everyone had real good approaches at the plate and our pitchers threw well to contact, didn’t walk anyone and did a great job.”

Kodie Kolden went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and Dominic Conigliaro went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for Lake City (4-3).

Drew Zaken hit an RBI double in the fifth inning for Lakeland (4-6).

Post Falls trailed 8-2 before Lebsock’s two-out homer made it 8-5. Isiah Gosney’s two-run single gave Post Falls an 8-6 lead in the sixth.

“We had some kids step up with some key at-bats and finished with a lot of two-out RBIs,” Post Falls coach Dustin Frank said. “Sandpoint played really well, but we were happy to walk away with the win in that game.”

Jake Pfennigs struck out eight in four innings for Post Falls in the opener.

In the nightcap, Josh McGlathery struck out five in three innings and held Sandpoint hitless in a 10-2 win.

“Anytime you can get two wins in a day, it’s a good day,” Frank said. “Some parts of the day, we were pitching, hitting and fielding really well. We’ve still got some things to get cleaned up before league starts next week.”

OROFINO — Dylan Edwards had two hits for the Lumberjacks in a Central Idaho League loss to the Maniacs.

“I’m very pleased with how the kids played,” St. Maries coach Craig Tefft said. “We put the ball in play and our strikeouts were down. But we put them on base eight times for free with either walks or hitting them, and five of those runs scored. That’s something we’ve got to do better at cutting down on and not plunking guys. They really made us pay for those free passes today.”

James Bolling hit a two-run home run to give Orofino a 4-2 lead in the third inning.

St. Maries (1-5, 0-1 CIL) plays a doubleheader at Grangeville today starting at noon.
