Lookout Pass closes Sunday

| April 9, 2016 9:00 PM

The 2015-16 winter season at Lookout Pass Ski and Recreation Area is coming to a close Sunday.

Located on the Idaho and Montana state line near Mullan, the ski resort will remain open throughout the weekend with all chairlifts running. Chair 4, "Success," will be open with the Snowsports School in full operation. All services will be open during the final weekend, including rentals, food and beverage, the Loft Pub and retail shop.

"We've enjoyed a successful season," marketing director Jason Bergman said in a press release Friday. "Our guests enjoyed a number of great powder days. Lift ticket sales are up 26 percent from last season and our Early Bird pass sale is doing well."

Lookout's first snow of the season fell Nov. 2 and a total of 310 inches accumulated by the end of the season. The ski area opened Thanksgiving Day and "enjoyed a positive Christmas break."

The deadline to purchase an Early Bird pass for the 2016-17 winter season is April 30.

The Route of the Hiawatha opens May 28. The trail is located 5 miles east of Lookout Pass and the ski area serves as the rental shop, service and information center for the Route of the Hiawatha. Guests can bike or hike the trail from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Season passes, bike rentals, trail tickets and group reservations can also be found online at www.ridethehiawatha.com.
