ANNIVERSARIES
Norman and Patricia Randall
70th Anniversary
Norman and Patricia Randall celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Sept. 2, 2015. They reside in Coeur d'Alene where they consider each day a gift and feel blessed to have had such a long and loving marriage!
In their youth, Norm and Pat met on a blind date at a skating rink. Patricia hailed from Kansas and was attending the University of Washington at the time. Norm resided in Burlington, Wash., and was employed at the Naval Base on Whidbey Island, Wash. After two years of courtship, they were married on Sept. 2, 1945. Later, Norm and Pat moved to Pullman, Wash., where they pursued lifelong careers at Washington State University; Norm in construction management and Pat in publications.
They have three daughters, two sons-in-law, seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and another on the way! Norm and Pat attribute their long marriage to the love and support of their family and the strong bond it has forged.
The two have enjoyed years of traipsing all over the Northwest, hunting, camping and fishing. So many memories made together! Their love of the great outdoors has been passed down to their daughters and families; camping and fishing is now a family tradition that will be enjoyed by generations to come!
When Norm and Pat were asked: "How does a marriage last 70 years?" their response was unanimous: "By maintaining a sense of humor and being best friends!"
Congratulations Mom and Dad. Your love and commitment has been an inspiration for us all.
Dale and Maria Hedman
50th Anniversary
Maria and Dale Hedman celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a garden party at their home in Hayden on Aug. 22, 2015. They have two children, Kirn (Chris) of Hayden, and Sean of Bellingham, Wash.; and two grandchildren, Charlotte and Georgia, of Hayden.
The couple met at Wenatchee Valley College while Maria was a student and Dale was stationed at Larson Air Force Base in Moses Lake, Wash. They were married on Aug. 21, 1965.
Dale worked for Verizon (formerly GTE) for 37 years, and Maria taught elementary school for 32 years, most recently at Cornerstone Christian Academy in Post Falls.
They are active members of Cornerstone Baptist Church and also enjoy spending time with their granddaughters, camping, fishing and gardening. Dale was an avid hunter for many years and was most proud of the bull moose he shot in 2007.
Maria and Dale credit the length and strength of their marriage to the grace of God. They would like to thank everyone who attended their reception and celebrated this milestone with them.
Fred and Judy McMurray
50th Anniversary
Fred and Judy (Reiswig) McMurray, of Coeur d'Alene, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 11, 2015. They both grew up in Coeur d'Alene.
Fred graduated from the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) Academy in 1963 and Judy graduated from Coeur d'Alene High in 1965. Fred stayed close to home to attend college, graduating from the University of Idaho in 1968 and then joined the Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force in 1988, Fred and Judy returned to Coeur d'Alene where Fred continued his flying career as a pilot with Northwest Airlines.
Since his retirement in 2005, Fred and Judy have been able to spend time at their cabin on the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River and with family. They have three children and six grandchildren in the local area. The couple took their family to the Washington coast to celebrate their golden anniversary.
William D. (Bill) and Jane Brooks
65th Anniversary
The Brookses celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. They were wed on Sept. 7, 1950, at St. Mark's Pro-Cathedral in Hastings, Neb.
Bill and Jane met in college, married and raised three children - Jeffrey, Cynthia (Bill) and David. The family spent many years as "corporate gypsies," living mostly in the Midwest and Indianapolis and also in Argentina and Mexico.
The couple retired to Coeur d'Alene for its beauty and proximity to Spokane where their daughter's family (children Lucas and Maya) lived until recently (now in Scottsdale, Ariz.). Their son David, lives in Atlanta, Ga., as does grandson Charlie (Lauren) and their twins, Logan and Maddox. Jeff, the eldest, also lives in Coeur d'Alene where Bill and Jane have now spent more than 20 happy years, and are certainly intending to stay.
John and Glenna Joy (Parrish) Williamson
65th Anniversary
John and Glenna Joy (Parrish) Williamson, of Hayden, are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary.
Both John and Glenna are retired. John worked as a banker and Glenna as a bookkeeper.
Their children are John of Tri-Cities, Wash.; Steve of Orlando, Fla.; and Mike of Vancouver, Wash. They have seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Ben and Linda Bomar
50th Anniversary
Ben and Linda (Sproat) Bomar, of Athol, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married Sept. 11, 1965.
Ben worked at Kaiser Aluminum for 37 years and Linda worked at the Coeur d'Alene Kmart for 25 years. Both are retired. Ben is a lifelong resident of Kootenai County and Linda moved to Athol in 1959. They lived in Hayden for 41 years and was able to build their dream home in Athol and moved on April 1, 2006.
Their children are Allen (Nicole) Bomar of Sandpoint, Bill Bomar of Rathdrum and Eric Bomar of Athol. They have one granddaughter and three grandsons.
Ben and Linda celebrated their anniversary on Aug. 29, 2015, at their Athol home. Allen, Bill, Eric and Carrie Bomar hosted the celebration. Relatives, many old friends and some not so old friends attended. The party was held early, to accommodate grandchildren's schedules for school and sports.
WEDDING
Busch-Harley
Kelsey Annetta Busch and Jacob Andrew Harley, both of Boise, were united in marriage on Sept. 6, 2015, at Hayden Lake Country Club in Hayden Lake. Dave Cavanaugh officiated the ceremony. Kelsey was given in marriage by her parents, Larry and Carrie Busch of Coeur d'Alene. Jacob is the son of Mark Harley and Sue Cummings, both of Boise.
Kelsey graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School and Boise State University. Jacob graduated from Boise High School and Eastern Oregon University. He is an Eagle volunteer firefighter and EMS at Micron Technology.
The wedding party included: Maid of Honor Madison Ross of El Dorado Hills, Calif.; bridesmaids Kelsey Kinkle of Coeur d'Alene, Danielle Costa of Boise, Amanda Stevens of Coeur d'Alene, Allison Field of Hermosa Beach, Calif.; Best Man Mike Oldham of Boise; groomsmen Kelly Strough, Brandon Esbensen, Micah Harley and Danny Oldham, all of Boise; ring bearer Jaxon Harley of Boise; and ushers Kevin and Scott Busch.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Ryan Gerard. A reception was held at Hayden Lake Country Club. Music and entertainment for the reception was provided by Epic Vibe.
The newlyweds honeymooned in Hawaii and will reside in Boise.
MILESTONE BIRTHDAY
Joyce Finley
90th Birthday
Born Sept. 21, 1925, Joyce Finley is celebrating her 90th birthday. Her daughters, Donna, Linda and Jan would like to invite Joyce's friends and family to join them from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, at the Hayden Eagles to share stories and remembrances. Joyce has been active in the community with the Coeur d'Alene Eagles, the Hayden Eagles and the walking group the Striders.
She has just returned from an Alaskan cruise and we are sure she has many stories from this trip to share with everyone.
MILITARY
Congratulations to Mason Ulen who, while on deployment in Djibouti, Africa, made the Air Force E-5 rank of Staff Sergeant after only four years in the Force. Mason graduated from Post Falls High School in 2011. Proud family are parents Pat and Cindi Domy and brother Brady Ulen, all of Post Falls. Way to go Mason!
