CLERK: Hypocrisy over faith and oath

| September 9, 2015 9:00 PM

Kim Davis is certainly selective about which of her obligations to her Deity she follows. When she took the oath of office to be County Clerk of Rowan County she swore an oath to the Almighty to uphold the Constitution of the United States. Now, her conscience prevents her from fulfilling that solemn oath. She has a choice: she can break her oath to God, she can set in jail from a personal belief while violating her oath to God, or she can resign her commission and with a free conscience act against same-sex marriage.

If we allow county clerks to issue or refuse to issue marriage licenses based on personal beliefs we open a true Pandora’s box of problems. As an example, could a Fundamentalist LDS member issue five wedding certificates to a man and four wives? Could a polyamorous commune all marry each other? The Supremacy Clause of the Constitution clearly states that the Supreme Court is the High Court of the Land and they have ruled that the First and XIVth Amendments allows gender-neutral marriage.

Don’t feel bad about Kim Davis; just remember, she’s been married four times. She’s guilty of serial polyandry which is forbidden to many sects of Christianity. As I started out she certainly is guilty of a very selective conscience when it comes to the allegiance she owes to the Deity.
