POEM: Wife supports English

| October 23, 2015 9:00 PM

It’s the eve of elections

In Twenty-Fifteen,

Winners and Losers

Remain to be seen.

We won’t know for sure

‘Til Jim counts the votes

Who are the sheep

And who are the goats.

Dan Gookin alone

Is surest to win

Without an opponent

He’ll be a shoe-in.

Now Toby reports

“Ron’s soft on guns.”

But Edinger counters

“I’ve got me some.”

Adams is quick to claim

Party affiliation.

For city elections?

An abomination!

English says balance

Is what we need most,

Thoughtful decisions

Or we’ll all be toast!

Urban Renewal

Is a topic that’s hot.

Some say to keep it,

Others say not.

Bruce doesn’t seem

To have much to say.

He did like the Recall

From our dark yesterday.

All of these choices,

And the one I like best

Is English for Council

Above all the rest.

Decisions, decisions,

It’s all up to you.

But you gotta go VOTE,

And your neighbor, too.

Now I will close,

And surely you’ll see

Why Dan is my Man,

As plain as can be.
