Lewiston breaks open game in fourth to beat visiting Post Falls

LEWISTON — Trailing by just a touchdown entering the fourth quarter, the game got away from the visiting Post Falls Trojans at Bengal Field on Friday night.

Alex Light scored on a 60-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter, then scored again on a 6-yard run later as the Lewiston Bengals ran away with a 42-14 win in 5A Inland Empire League play.

Austin Jackson scored on a 13-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 7-all in the first quarter for Post Falls.

“Austin had a phenomenal game running the ball for us tonight,” Post Falls coach Jeff Hinz said. “They’re pretty explosive offensively. We tried to keep them at bay and control the clock, and we were successful at that. They just had a couple of big plays in the fourth quarter and we had a couple of turnovers, and that was the ballgame. In the third and fourth quarter, we had opportunities, but it didn’t go our way.”

Nathan Gregory had a 19-yard touchdown run for Post Falls (3-5, 0-2 5A IEL), which travels to Coeur d’Alene next Friday.

Lewiston (7-1, 1-1) visits Lake City next Friday.
